Nick Chubb Returns to NFL Spotlight: From Browns Legend to Texans’ New Hope

A New Chapter in Houston
Former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has found a new home with the Houston Texans, signing a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. The contract, which has been officially signed after passing his physical, could reach a maximum value of $5 million.
Recovery and Redemption
The 29-year-old’s journey hasn’t been easy, having suffered a gruesome knee injury in 2023 and struggling to regain his usual dominant form in the following season. However, another year of recovery could bring the four-time Pro Bowler close to his normal performance level.
Early signs are promising, as Chubb has already shown encouraging form in preseason action with the Texans, demonstrating his abilities during a recent victory over the Panthers.
Leadership Role in Texas
The Texans have big plans for Chubb, envisioning him as their “bell-cow running back” for the season opener. This opportunity arose after Joe Mixon was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list, giving Chubb an extended opportunity to lead the Houston backfield.
Career Achievement and Future Potential
Throughout his NFL career, Chubb has established himself as an elite runner, accumulating 6,843 yards and 51 touchdowns in 85 career games. His accomplishments include four Pro Bowl selections and a second-team All-Pro nomination in 2022.
While the road ahead may be challenging at age 29, Chubb has an immediate opportunity to prove his value, particularly during the first four games of 2025 when he’ll have the chance to establish himself as the primary back.
