Historic Ownership Change

In a landmark deal completed in July 2025, Rogers purchased BCE’s 37.5% share of MLSE for CA$4.7 billion, acquiring 75% ownership of the company in a transaction that values MLSE at CA$12.5 billion. The sale received all necessary approvals from Canadian regulators and sports leagues.

The agreement includes provisions for MLSE to continue sublicensing approximately half of its media rights for the Maple Leafs and Raptors to Bell Media for up to 20 years at “fair market value.” Bell will maintain its official telecom sponsorships of the Argonauts, Raptors, and Toronto FC.

Portfolio and Operations

MLSE’s impressive portfolio includes the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, NBA’s Toronto Raptors, MLS’s Toronto FC, CFL’s Toronto Argonauts, and development teams. The company owns or operates key venues including Scotiabank Arena, BMO Field, Coca-Cola Coliseum, Ford Performance Centre, BMO Training Ground, and the OVO Athletic Centre.

New Initiatives and Partnerships

MLSE has recently launched new initiatives to strengthen connections with Canadian football fans through its sports teams, including youth camps with the Argos, apparel collaborations, and watch parties at select games involving MLSE’s sports entities.

The company has also unveiled an innovative in-app program targeting younger fans, called “Fan Access.” The program offers opportunities to win playoff tickets, tailgate-party passes, arena tours, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content. A full launch is planned for fall 2025, expanding to both the Maple Leafs and Raptors apps.

Future Vision

Looking ahead, MLSE continues to strengthen its position in the entertainment sector, with Scotiabank Arena established as one of the world’s leading music and entertainment venues. The company has committed to a $350 million Venue Reimagination Project to further enhance the venue’s global standing.

At its core, MLSE maintains its commitment to creating winning teams and delivering championships to the city and its fans. This drives the company to continuously grow, develop world-class venues, and innovate in bringing fans together, setting the stage for the next century of entertainment excellence.
