Another Milestone for America’s Top-Ranked Player

Jessica Pegula, the No. 4 seed and highest-ranked American in the US Open women’s singles draw, has secured her place in the semifinals after defeating Barbora Krejcikova 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.

Record-Breaking Performance

Pegula’s performance in this tournament has been nothing short of exceptional, having lost just 23 total games – the fewest by an American woman en route to a major semifinal since Serena Williams at the 2016 Australian Open. “I’ve been able to kind of go into those matches and really take care of business,” Pegula stated.

2025 Season Highlights

The 2025 season has already been remarkable for Pegula, with tournament victories at Bad Homburg, Charleston, and Austin. She has also reached the finals in Miami and Adelaide.

Semifinal Showdown

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Pegula, who had previously struggled to advance beyond quarterfinals in major tournaments. She will face Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals on Thursday, following Sabalenka’s advancement through a walkover when Marketa Vondrousova withdrew due to injury.

Looking Ahead

Pegula’s confident play has given her momentum heading into the semifinal match. “I think that’s also what’s given me a lot of confidence is I’ve played good players but [had] convincing wins over those players.” As the tournament progresses, she continues her pursuit of her first Grand Slam championship.
