Fernando Cattori: Mexico’s Multi-Talented Director and Actor Makes International Breakthrough
Rising Star in Mexican Entertainment
Fernando Cattori has recently signed with Mama Hungara, establishing himself as one of the most promising Mexican directors of his generation.
A graduate of the Universidad Iberoamericana de Ciencias de la Comunicación, Cattori’s journey began with studies in acting and theatre during high school. While pursuing his communication and advertising degree, he worked as a filmmaker for emerging Mexican fashion brands, catching the film industry’s attention at just 22 years old.
Current Projects and Achievements
Cattori is currently making headlines with his role as Benito in the popular YA series ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ on Prime Video, where he plays a Parisian character who becomes a love interest for the main protagonist Belly during her European stay.
His recent work includes notable performances in ‘With You in the Future’ (2025), ‘Untamed Royals’ (2024), and ‘Rubio: Nacimos llorando’ (2023). Additionally, his work behind the camera has earned recognition, including a Latin Grammy nomination for directing the long-form music video for ‘Nacimos Llorando’.
Artistic Approach and Future Prospects
Beyond filmmaking, Cattori’s interests span psychotherapy, contemporary dance, and self-fiction literature. His distinctive directorial style is characterized by a unique approach to narrative, particularly in his treatment of story ‘fractures’ rather than concealing them.
Despite being in the early stages of his career, Cattori already has three leading roles awaiting release, and he remains enthusiastic about how technology is democratizing the industry, making cameras and lighting more accessible to creators.
