A Major Transition for The Witcher Franchise

The highly anticipated fourth season of The Witcher is confirmed to premiere on Netflix in 2025, marking a significant change as Liam Hemsworth takes over the lead role. The season, which is being filmed back-to-back with the fifth and final season, represents the beginning of the end for the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s beloved books, as confirmed by creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

New Cast and Story Developments

The new season brings exciting additions to the cast, including Laurence Fishburne joining as Regis, a world-wise barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who will cross paths with Geralt. Following the events of Season 3, which left the main characters scattered, the new season will see Ciri adopting the alias Falka and joining the Rats, while Geralt builds the Hanza group and Yennefer takes over leadership at Aretuza.

Production and Release Details

The fourth season has already completed filming and is currently in post-production. While no official trailers have been released yet, the season is confirmed for release in late October 2025. Breaking from previous seasons’ format, all eight episodes will be released simultaneously, following Netflix’s strategy for flagship shows like Stranger Things and Wednesday.

A Broader Universe Expands

2025 is shaping up to be a landmark year for The Witcher franchise across multiple media formats. While the Netflix series continues with its fourth season, CD Projekt Red has been making revelations about The Witcher 4 game, and fans have already enjoyed The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime earlier this year. Additionally, Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book, “Crossroads of Ravens,” is scheduled for international release in September 2025.
